In Gaza, at least 44,786 Palestinians were senselessly murdered by Israel (t.me/MOHMediaGaza/6106). Israel, a settler-colonial apartheid state, is committing a genocide against Palestinians, the native population of the land, and @unibasel is complicit. This violates the human rights of Palestinians. Our demands are simple, stop this complicity right now.

Genocide violates Human Rights: On December 5, Amnesty International (@amnesty_suisse) released an extensive report concluding that Israel is committing a genocide against Palestinians. This echoes the voice of UN special rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories (@francesca.albanese.unsr.opt) who released two reports recognizing Israel's genocide: "Anatomy of a Genocide" back in March and "Genocide as colonial erasure" in October 2024. This also echoes the assessment of prominent genocide scholars, like Amos Goldberg and Raz Segal, who recognized Israel's actions and intent as genocidal as far back as 13 October 2023.

Apartheid violates Human Rights: Since 2020, the most prominent Human Rights' NGOs (@yesh_din, @btselem, @kerem_navot, @al_haq_organization, @humanrightswatch, @amnesty) and the International Court of Justice (@cij_icj) released extensive reports recognizing that Israel is an apartheid state.

On Human Rights Day, we recognize that preserving our human rights, right now, will safeguard our future.
Our rights will always be at risk as long as our universities, our government, and our media ideologically and materially support Israel, the genocidal settler-colonial apartheid state.
@unibasel and other entities with government oversight, like @christophmerianstiftung, collaborate with the media to support and legitimize Israel's genocide by aggressively censoring, violently repressing, or relentlessly harassing pro-Palestinian voices.

None of us will be free, until Palestine is free.

Palestine Cinema Days in Basel
On the somber anniversary of the Balfour Declaration, observed on November 2nd, and in an effort to amplify Palestinian voices, we are screening six films on the topic of Palestine during the whole day at Quartiertreffpunkt LoLa, Basel, Switzerland. The screenings are free of charge.

We will start the afternoon by time travelling into the past, from Israel's bombing of Gaza in 2021, to the 2012 Syrian civil war, to the First Intifada in '87-'93, to Palestinian resistance in Lebanon in the '70s. We will finish the evening with beautiful films that explore the lived realities of Palestinians under apartheid and their memories of villages they were ethnically cleansed from.
