As you're reading the Quran, you will notice that the stories of the Prophets are rarely mentioned from beginning to end and are instead scattered throughout Allah's Book. Why is that? Well, each Surah possesses an underlining theme & the accounts therein are relayed so as to support the over-arching subject.

An example of this is found in Surah Taha, one of the earlier Suwar revealed. The keynote theme of this Surah is to show Allah's care, concern, and protection over His righteous servants. Allah instills this concept in the beginning of the Prophet's صلى الله عليه وسلم mission so as to prepare him for the eventual trials he would face.

Allah does this by opening the chapter reassuring the Prophet that the Quran was not revealed to "... cause you distress, but (instead) as a reminder to those in awe ˹of Allah˺.”

He then informs Prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم of the different events during the life of another Messenger, Prophet Musa عليه السلام. Examples include:

-Allah's protection over Musa as a baby in the box & how He returned Musa back to his mother,

-how Allah strengthen Musa with miracles and courage to stand up against the powerful tyrant Fir'awn and the magicians...all of these accounts return back to the undertone of the Surah.

Another benefit: Accounts of a story are dispersed throughout the Quran without repetition. Each version contains a unique element not expressed in the other. An example of this is when Allah commanded Musa to throw down his staff,

فَأَلْقَاهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ حَيَّةٌ تَسْعَىٰ

"So he did, then—behold!—it became a serpent, slithering." (Taha: 20)

Allah describes the account elsewhere in the Quran,

وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۚ فَلَمَّا رَآهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَانٌّ وَلَّىٰ مُدْبِرًا وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْ ۚ

"Now, throw down your staff!” But when he saw it slithering like a snake, he ran away without looking back." (an-Naml: 27)

And,

فَأَلْقى عَصاهُ فَإِذا هِيَ ثُعْبانٌ مُبِينٌ
"So Moses threw down his staff and—behold!—it became a real snake." (al-'Araaf: 107)

Allah describes the staff after changing into a snake with three attributes: حية -جان - ثعبان. For the unlearned, it may seem contradictory, but as for those endowed with knowledge they understand that each word contains a unique quality:

It was a snake حية; this word is used to reference snakes of all types and sizes, both male and female. This particular snake was growing in size and became colossal in stature, so it was described as a ثعبان.

Large animals/reptiles normally move slowly. This snake was enormous in size and at the same it was also جان meaning it moved incredibly fast!

Now imagine, what did the magicians do when they saw this staff turning into a incredibly huge fast snake? Allah says,

فَأُلْقِيَ السَّحَرَةُ سُجَّدًا قَالُوا آمَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَارُونَ وَمُوسَىٰ
"So the magicians fell down in prostration, declaring, 'We believe in the Lord of Aaron and Moses.'” (Taha: 70)

Ya Salaam! What an excellent Book! I ask Allah to make the Quran the spring of our hearts and light of our chests.
