WHAT NEXT AFTER CAMP

All activities in NYSC Orientation Camp last only for 21 days; afterwards, corps members would be posted to Place of Primary Assignment  (PPA).
Below are the order of arrangements of things corps members need to do when their camping come to an end.

Step 1
Report to your PPA:
You will be handed a posting letter the day camp will close by your platoon officer. The first thing to do immediately after leaving orientation camp is to report at your PPA.
In the local government, old corps members will welcome you. You can sleep over in the corpers lodge located usually close to the local government, then in the morning the following day, you will have to report to your PPA.
What you will be taking to your PPA is the posting letter that was given to you on camp after the passing out parade (camp POP). The essence of taking your letter to your PPA is to determine whether they will accept or reject you.

The posting letter is a letter addressed to your employer, and a detachable form is underneath.
Advise: make a photocopy of your posting letter before submitting.
At your PPA, the person in charge of corps member will either accept or reject you.
In the detachable form, the PPA will either write YES or NO and stamp it.

If a YES, that means you can continue your steps further, but if he rejects you, read on how to take our post on request letter.

Step 2
If YES, submit your letter of acceptance to your Zonal Office or Local Inspector office as the case maybe:
once you are accepted in your Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), the form will be detached and you will be given the end part of the form and your PPA will keep the other part, you take the part given to you to the Zonal Office and submit.  Depending on how far your PPA is to the Zonal Office, if it is very far, a local inspector will be attached to your area who will collect the form from you and record it in a register as you bring your slip.

Step 3
Open a Bank Account/sort out Bank issues
If you did not participate in camp or for any reason have not gotten an NYSC account. Or you have issues. Immediately you bring your acceptance letter and you fill the register, the Local Inspector / the person attending to you at the Zonal Office assign you to a bank. Go to the bank immediately with 3 passport photograph and your NYSC ID Card lest I forget. For the next 1 year, you must always carry your ID card along anywhere you are going to. Your ID card will open doors for you (depending on how you utilize it). If you are in this case, report back to LGI office to fill account form, Majority of corpers are not in this category.

Step 4
Enjoy your 2 weeks unofficial leave (depending on you PPA)
Once you have finished steps 1-3 and you are sure, you can now travel, go for a training, read book for the next two weeks depending on your PPA.  If your PPA is a school, most times they are either already on holiday period like now going on December break. So enjoy the holiday with them. But if your PPA is a private firm, ministry and other parastatals, your leave will be dictated by them, so please adhere to it.

ZAMFARA: ANOTHER TWO ABDUCTED PROSPECTIVE CORPS MEMBERS REGAIN FREEDOM

The National Youth Service Corps has again secured the release of two females among the abducted Prospective Corps Members who were kidnapped in Zamfara on their way to the Orientation Camp in Sokoto.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian Army recently secured the release of a male and a female abductee, while efforts are seriously on-going to ensure the safe release of the remaining four Prospective Corps Members.

The NYSC Director General, Brigadier General YD Ahmed hereby reassures Members of the public, especially the parents of the remaining four abductees, that the Scheme in conjunction with the security agencies would explore every available strategy that would ensure that they are released unhurt and reunite with their families.

Management also wishes to appreciate the overwhelming support being received from the Nigerian Army in its concerted efforts towards securing the release of the abducted Prospective Corps Members.

The Scheme will always remain resolute in its statutory responsibility of fostering national unity and integration.
