**International Olympics Day 2023:

Every year, 23rd June is celebrated as International Olympics Day across the globe. This day commemorates the foundation of the International Olympic Committee on 23 June 1894 in Sorbonne, Paris.

Theme 2023: 'Let's Move'** which aims to inspire people around the world to make time for daily physical activity.

International Olympic Committee (IOC):a. It is a non-governmental sports organisation that is responsible for organising the modern (Summer, Winter, and Youth) Olympic Games.
b. Founders: Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelac. HQ of IOC: Lausanne, Switzerland.
d.Current IOC President: Thomas Bach.
e. Current Director-General: Christophe De Kepper
f. It has Permanent Observer status at UNGA (since 2009).

Background:

Participants from all over the world will commemorate the day the International Olympic Committee was founded at the Sorbonne in Paris, where Pierre de Coubertin rallied the revival of the Ancient Olympic Games on 23 June 1894.

Doctor Gruss, a Czech IOC member, presented the idea of a world Olympic day at the 41st Session of the International Olympic Committee in Stockholm, Sweden, which would set aside a day to celebrate everything that the Olympic Movement stands for.
The project got the nod at the 42nd IOC Session in St Moritz, Switzerland, in January 1948.In the 1978 edition of the Olympic Charter, the IOC recommended for the first time that all National Olympic Committees (NOCs) organise an Olympic Day to promote the Olympic Movement.

Some important facts:a. The IOC organizes the modern Olympic Games and Youth Olympic Games (YOG), held in summer and winter every four years.
b. First Summer Olympics was held in Athens, Greece, in 1896.
c. First Winter Olympics was in Chamonix, France, in 1924.
d. First Summer YOG was in Singapore in 2010.
e. First Winter YOG was in Innsbruck in 2012.f. The first ever Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948.

ಮೆಕ್ಸಿಕೊದ ಅತಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ರಾಜ್ಯವಾದ ‘ದಿ ಸ್ಟೇಟ್‌ ಆಫ್‌ ಮೆಕ್ಸಿಕೊ’ ಸಲಿಂಗ ವಿವಾಹಕ್ಕೆ ಮಂಗಳವಾರ ಒಪ್ಪಿಗೆ ನೀಡಿತು. 

ಸಲಿಂಗ ವಿವಾಹ ಅಂಗೀಕಾರದ ಪರವಾಗಿ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಶಾಸಕರು ಮತ ನೀಡಿದರು. ಈ ಮೂಲಕ, ಮೆಕ್ಸಿಕೊದ 32 ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ಪೈಕಿ 29 ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳು ಸಲಿಂಗ ವಿವಾಹವನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸಿದಂತಾಗಿದೆ.**
